The enforcement action centers on a cheating ring involving the administration of the mandatory Missouri Peace Officer Licensed Exam (MPOLE). Passing the exam is the final statutory requirement for any candidate seeking to secure a badge and wield law enforcement powers in the state of Missouri.

According to investigative findings, a high-ranking official jointly tied to the regional police academy and the Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) Police Department actively compromised the security of the state test. Regulators discovered the official manipulated the examination process to provide answers and ensure passing scores for select recruits, creating an active cheating pipeline inside the facility.

Multiple stripped cadets have since stepped forward, claiming they did not initially intend to violate state ethical mandates. Instead, the rookie officers alleged they were explicitly instructed and pressured by academy leadership to participate in the compromise.
